Dodo

The flightless bird which was endemic to the island of Mauritius became extinct in the 1600's due to deforestation, hunting and destruction of their nests by animals brought to Mauritius.

The Dodo which was slightly bigger than a turkey is one of the most famous examples of human induced extinction.
